What Do I Need To Do To Get The Ground Ready For
Sod?
Colorado
soils are generally of poor quality. A key to a successful, healthy
lawn is to have it growing in good soil. ScienTurfic Sod recommends that customers
incorporate a good organic compost into soil prior to sodding. The
recommended rate is 3 cubic yards of compost per 1000 square feet of
area. This needs to be spread evenly and rototilled into the existing
soil to a depth of 4 to 6 inches. This will improve the composition and
the texture of the soil to a point where the grass plants will perform
much better. Finally, the soil needs to be graded and raked out so that
the surface is smooth and ready for sod. The lawn will only look as
good as the soil is underneath it.

Is Sodding A Hard Job To Do?
The actual laying of the sod, while being fairly laborious, is quite
easy to do. Essentially, if the sod rolls are unrolled in the same
direction each time, butted tightly to each other so there is no
overlap or gap, and staggered as if laying bricks on a horizontal
surface, then you should be rewarded with a good-looking installation.

How Much Will I Have To Water My New Lawn?
After installation, you should apply ½ inch of water per day for the
first three days. After that, the amount of water required depends upon
the weather conditions. Rain gauges are available at our two locations
free of charge to assist you in this process. More specific watering
guidelines are provided by the Rocky Mountain Sod Growers and also by
CSU.

How Often Do I Need To Mow My Lawn?
Your first mowing should be after the sod has had time to knit with the
soil (after the first 10 to 14 days.) The first few mowings should be
done diagonally to the way the sod was laid. The turf should be mowed
frequently enough so that no more than one-third of the grass height is
removed at any single mowing. The preferred mowing height is between
2.5 and 3 inches. We highly recommend that you mow with a properly
adjusted lawn mower that has sharp blades.

I ordered 2,500 square feet for delivery and am
finished installing my yard. I have 22 rolls left over. When can you
come and pick them up and refund my money on them?
We are sorry that you have sod left over, but we cannot come and pick
it up, nor can we give you a refund for it. Sod is perishable plant
material, and we cannot take it back or sell it to someone else. It is
vitally important that accurate measurements are taken because what you
order is what you will receive, and it is yours. We cannot take
responsibility for someone else's measurements, math mistakes or
incomplete measurements.
